Author Finder: the author of an article and their work email
Paste the URL of an article. Harbilo reads the byline, matches the author to the publication's domain and returns the most likely work email with its evidence.
How Author Finder works
- Paste an article URL.
- We read the byline from the page.
- You get the author and the best work address, labelled observed, inferred or verified.
What each label means
Observed Seen directly in a public source, such as the company's website or a registry filing.
Inferred Generated from the company's detected email pattern. Plausible, not proof that the mailbox exists.
Verified The mail server accepted this address and rejected a random one.
Uncertain Checked, but deliverability could not be established either way.
Every result carries a timestamp. An address is never called deliverable just because the domain accepts mail, and verification never sends a message.
Author Finder API
Planned endpoint. It is not served yet; this is the contract it will follow.
POST /v1/contacts/author-finder/url (required) | The article's URL. |
|---|
Returns. The author's name as published, the publication domain, the best email with status and confidence, and a timestamp.
Questions
What if the article has no byline?
Then there is no author to return and the lookup is not charged.
Why does this need an account?
The result is a named person's contact details. Harbilo shows those only to signed-in users, with opt-out honoured.
Is the email guaranteed?
No. It carries the same evidence labels as Email Finder: observed, inferred, verified or uncertain.
